HCA Healthcare UK
HCA Healthcare UK is a leading provider of healthcare with 185 hospitals and 119 outpatient clinics in the US and the UK. We have a deep-rooted focus on providing our patients with the highest quality care that can be traced back to when we were founded by doctors in Nashville in 1968.
In the UK we have six main hospitals: The Wellington Hospital, The Lister Hospital, The Portland Hospital, London Bridge Hospital, The Harley Street Clinic and The Princess Grace Hospital.
In addition to our six main hospitals we have outpatient clinics, GP practices and five urgent care centres that provide seamless access into our hospitals where it is needed. And the Sarah Cannon Research Institute provides a centre in London offering access to clinical trials for both NHS and private patients.
We are proud to partner with leading NHS teaching hospitals to provide private care at HCA UK at University College Hospital and The Christie Private Care, and we are co-located at Guy`s cancer centre with Private Care at Guy`s.
The Lister Hospital, London Bridge Hospital and Harley Street Clinic are all rated `outstanding` by the CQC, as are our NHS partnerships The Christie Private Care and HCA UK at University College Hospital.
When HCA came to the UK in the 1990`s, we did something not being done in the private sector; establish hospitals with the deep clinical infrastructure that can provide the most complex care otherwise unavailable outside of the NHS. And today we still have that point of difference, providing the levels of complex care on a scale not matched in the sector, and with over two decades of experience in the UK to guide us.
We know that delivering the highest level of care is a long-term commitment and our heritage and global success has enabled us to invest in our hospitals. We have consistently reinvested capital (since 2015 there has been a 92% average reinvestment of capital) to improve and drive forward innovation and quality. By investing in our hospitals, we have been able to remain at the forefront of cutting-edge medicine.
As part of our NHS partnerships we are excited to be building a new £100m hospital in partnership with University Hospitals Birmingham. Due to open in 2022, the 138-bed specialist hospital is being built on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus.
The hospital will be equipped with the latest technology to provide some of the most complex surgical and medical procedures and treatments. This includes state-of-the-art operating theatres and a radiotherapy unit.
The new hospital will give patients access to a level of acute private healthcare, not currently available in the region, to people who have private health insurance or who want to self-pay for their care, as well as providing extra capacity and access to specialist facilities for NHS patients.
